Why do I feel uncomfortable passing a police officer wearing a hoodie? Why do we look down on people who are wearing a hoodie? I can’t think of any mass murderer who wore a hoody until the Boston marathon bombing, so why is it so ‘hood’. Is it because it is widely recognized with hip hop and African American culture? How did the Trayvon Martin case effect how hoods are portrayed to adults? It is incredible how much impact clothing can have on humans. Let’s reverse the stereotype that is so commonly associated with hoods and let’s make them innovative! Let’s tell the world that it’s just a piece of clothing; but it is powerful enough to change our attitude, so let’s be strong enough to change our attitude towards the hood.
